In addition to regular church choir conducting duties, David Ouzts has conducted his choirs in singing oratorios accompanied by full orchestra, chamber orchestra, string ensembles, and other string and wind combinations. He has also conducted choirs for diocesan choral festivals and services, and his church choirs have often joined forces with other church choirs for various Choral Evensongs and other liturgies.
He has also mastered the art of oratorio accompaniment at the organ, orchestrating accompaniments using the tonal and solo colors of the organ, an art in which many musicians do not continue in the modern day. Orchestrating score reductions as accompaniments played on the organ allows many oratorio movements to be carefully extracted from the complete oratorio and used effectively as anthems for liturgical worship.
